Director of Unless

From her design studio in Central Wellington, New Zealand's creative capital, Rebecca Asquith juggles many roles including co-director of Unless and her own design practice.

Within her design pactice she produces her own range of contemporary furniture and lighting objects.  Fundamental to her design ethos is the creation of high quality innovative design objects using eco-friendly materials and design devices. 

"My aim is to produce responsible furniture objects by using environmentally friendly materials, minimizing waste, designing for ease of separation of materials for repair and recycling, using recycled materials and designing work to collapse for ease of transport and the reduction of packaging materials".

Her drive for perfection is expressed in her impeccably designed, immaculately finished and detailed design objects. 

Growing up in the small coastal village of Waitara, Taranaki, Rebecca developed a love of nature and a deep respect for the environment.  She draws inspiration from her Te-Atiawa roots (North Taranaki Maori Tribe) and from the forms and processes of nature.

As a passionate environmental advocate and a powerful creative force, Rebecca has a host of national and international exhibitions behind her and is helping to shape a new environmental awareness and design sensibility.
